ASSOCIATE PROGRAM
Associates are married or single women and men who desire to be connected to the spirit of the Sisters of St. Mary. They desire to live their faith in Jesus Christ in a spirit of simplicity and joy within their families, church, social and work environments. They want to deepen their spirit of St. Mary as they strive to lead a life of prayer and service to others.
How do you become an associate?
• You receive an invitation from one of the sisters or express a desire to look into the possibility of being an associate. • You experience a time of discernment with the sisters and associates. This is a time to share stories, interests and the chance to learn about one another.
• You go through a period of formation, learning about the history of the Sisters of St. Mary, our spirit, our prayer and spirituality, and ways of connecting with us. • When you and the sisters have discerned that you feel ready to make a commitment, you may ask to become an associate. You then make your commitment for one year at a time. Being an associate is a beautiful way to live a life of purpose and connection!
- After a period of formation, the associate makes a promise within the group. This promise may be freely renewed each year.
- Each associate receives a medallion bearing an image of the Christ which is on the congregational cross of the Sisters.
- The associates have two major meetings each year, in the Spring and Fall, but there are also numerous opportunities for gathering in between. Associates are invited to special community celebrations and meetings, and can choose to enjoy spiritual input from speakers, prayer celebrations and sharings.
- A committee of Sisters and Associates regularly meet for planning sessions.
- The Associates are very generous with time and talent, helping out wherever they can!
